According to LinkedIn: “…Applications enable you to enrich your profile, share and collaborate with your network, and get the key insights that help you be more effective. Applications are added to your homepage and profile enabling you to control who gets access to what information.” You can: “…have a total of 15 modules and/or applications on your profile and 12 on your home page. A message bar will appear at the top of the page if you need to remove an application before adding another.”
At last glance I used seven applications:
- BlogLink to incorporate article from this WordPress blog.
- Tweets which is the Twitter interface.
- Events to broadcast presentations I put on.
- Polls for the questions I infrequently ask for opinions.
- SlideShare for slide presentations developed in either PowerPoint or Open Office.
- Google Presents which uploaded a YouTube video I produced.
- Box.net, my favorite, which I used to upload and display PDF copies of letters of reference for the presentations made throughout the area.
You access Application below your Profile Highlight box while in “Edit Profile” mode. Just below the highlight box and to the right you will see the “Add Sections”. Click to open and scroll down on the left to reveal applications. Shown below is the Creative Portfolio Display preview.
This applications allows you to: “..to showcase your creative work in your LinkedIn Profile.
- A free and easy way to display your visual work.
- Present creative projects done for past clients or for your personal portfolio.
- Showcase your creative talent to recruiters and professional contacts viewing your profile.“
Here is the reference page which explains he current LinkedIn Applications.
