Add Sections to LinkedIn

Use sections to further personalize and expand your LinkedIn profile. You can enhance your profile by adding information about patents, publications, certifications and languages.  Or choose specific applications to show case your graphic (i.e. artistic, photographic, etc.) or written (i.e. pdfs, doc, etc. files) talents.  Upload PowerPoint (and other format) slide shows via SlideShare or YouTube videos via Google Docs (or also via SlideShare).  Add Amazon reading lists (especially nice for authors promoting your own books), import your blog or WordPress.com blog, post your travel itinerary, etc.  LinkedIn irregularly adds sections, so check it out occasionally (or subscribe to my blog for updates).

The “Add Sections” link is found just below, to the right of your profile highlights box (semi-circled in red below).

Section For Recent Graduates And Students Available

On July 15th, 2011 LinkedIn expanded the sections to include ones specifically aimed at recent graduates and students who have less work history. You can now add courses, honors and awards, organizations and test scores.

Volunteer Experience & Causes

Added 9/8/11 Mark S. asked a LinkedIn Question about the new section “Volunteer Experience & Causes”. Here is a screen shot of where that is found in the Add Sections now.

Volunteer Experience & Causes

I added my volunteer experience today, 9/10/11, to my LinkedIn profile. Really quite easily. After clicking on the new section link, this window opened:

A few second later I added the relevant information and voila!
