Quick Steps Avoid Unacceptable Web Marketing Failure Options
To succeed on the WEB you need to be persistent, have a “thick” skin and lose any fear of failure by accumulating quick and repeated successes. My success formula to accomplish this is to first develop a good marketing plan. Then you must test out your plan, analyze the results then tweak the plan and repeat your own success formula.
I recently remarked about another blog post I read. It centered on one of the principles of successful marketing on the WEB. That principle is not being afraid to fail. One must try, be willing to fail and then try again. Take Sir Winston Churchill’s infamous advice and NEVER GIVE IN! The alternative his countrymen faced was the invasion and destruction of England during World War II.
You must outmaneuver your adversaries or competition like guerrilla soldiers. Do not engage them directly which is taking them on head to head in their areas of strength. Find their weaknesses and attack the niche market they over looked or do not concentrate in.
I still remember a message from the movie “Patton” (1970). The scene is in the North African desert at the beginning of the movie. German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel’s troops and tanks are shown entering a trap set by U.S. General George S. Patton Jr. As his forces attack George C. Scott (Patton) takes his binoculars down from his eyes and proclaims: “I read your book!”
Small companies can level the WEB into an even playing field by understanding your opponents and outmaneuvering them. Small guys have an advantage over large corporations when they use their ability to change quickly. Do it yourselfers can make quicker decisions and change course more readily than a lumbering Goliath with its layers of decision makers.
The ability to fear failure and be willing to change direction quickly are general characteristics most businesses lack. It is especially missing in large businesses. But it is one of the attributes necessary for successful WEB marketing.
To gain the upper hand you must be open up channels of communication to customers and potential clients. Be willing to listen to and learn from what they tell you. You do this by both opening up a dialog through a blog or a forum and encouraging viewers to join the conversation. Then use statistics and analytics to gauge your results. Learn to react and adapt.
I can write a blog article or upload a new Web page in minutes. I can produce a new video in mere hours. This ability allows me to out flank my competitors.
Occasionally the plan must be abandoned for lack of success, especially at the beginning when you are increasing your knowledge and experience. On the other side, rarely does a concept go ‘viral’ and hit the charts over night. That is akin to winning the lottery. I adopted the more conservative and slower approach that ultimately leads to success after success.
I encourage you to join the conversation and comment on this and other blog articles. I will answer your comment.

This article has great suggestions and has given me an idea of what to give away to attract business. I also got an e-mail from a TV station who may do a follow-up story on a piece they did with me twice earlier this year.
